Barksdale Middle School — Northwest ISD Construction Website

Northwest ISD's eighth middle school will be located in the Pecan Square community in Northlake, serving families in the eastern portion of the school district. As with new schools throughout Northwest ISD, the new middle school will feature an easy-to-navigate layout with extensive collaboration areas to promote teamwork.

Scheduled to open in August 2026, the new middle school is now in active construction. Similar to recent district middle schools, it will feature athletics and fine arts spaces in localized areas for easy access to after-hours events. Though the layout takes inspiration from new middle schools such as Pike and Worthington, particularly in terms of interior layout, it will feature its own unique design. The school was funded through the voter-approve 2023 bond referendum.
